View Warped Tour Photographs Part 2
This was my 6th year traveling on the Vans Warped Tour, I think I have it down pretty good now. This year I was only able to do about 10 days as I was very busy! I was originally supposed to ride with Bring Me The Horizon… but that didn’t work out. A lot of things don’t work out. That is sort of the nature of my job. It’s nothing personal and I never hold it on the artist or their team… just something I have learned to work with. In this case, it meant flying out to the tour without really having a plan on who I was going to be staying with every night.

I flew out to St. Louis, crashed at the good dude Brendan Donahue’s place, and headed to the tour the next morning. Bring Me The Horizon still followed through with figuring my credentials. I think that Warped Tour turned me down? Maybe they don’t like me… I am not sure. I can never quite tell how the production end of things works. But I was out there… for ten days, or as long as I felt fit staying, so I had to figure something out. In the end, Bring Me The Horizon let me use a laminate they had as extra and this enabled me to shoot.
In addition to photographing the tour for a week and a half, I teamed up with Invisible children and did a signing for about an hour each day. I put signing in italics because I still feel like a dope calling it that, but essentially- that is what it was.
Every day I would set up in their tent at a predetermined time, sell my AE Shirts, give away some Lens Bracelets, and sign/ take a photo for everyone and anyone that wanted it. It was fun, I was happy I could do that because during my regular tours I work almost all day and don’t have much time to meet people. I also like to support Invisible Children as much as I can. They are an important organization and I have learned a lot from them myself.
I steal anything tagged #elmakias or #adamelmakias from Instagram and upload them to my Facebook page- so if we took a photo together, chances are it is up there.
I tend to photograph the bands I have ongoing relationships with a lot more than new ones. I do this because I can gain access to their stage and shoot as much as I want, from wherever I want. Then in my free time, I try to shoot other artists. Anyway, this is what I made out with the tour. Tonight Alive, While She Sleeps, Oh Sleeper and The Chariot were all nice enough to let me ride with them. So thank you guys, without you, I woulda been fucked.
